Watch Lady Gaga Perform "Smile" For One World: Together at Home
What began as a virtual concert series that featured musicians entertaining social-distancing fans during the coronavirus pandemic resulted in a full-fledged musical event on an epic scale. A collaborative effort between the World Health Organization, Global Citizen, and Lady Gaga, the first-of-its-kind global broadcast event One World: Together at Home aimed to fight the coronavirus pandemic and celebrate the work of healthcare professionals all over the world.
The April 18 broadcast began with a six-hour live stream on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter before transitioning to a two-hour televised event that aired on multiple networks. Gaga curated the superstar-packed lineup of musicians, actors, and comedians who joined the event to thank health professionals, entertain viewers, and remind everyone to continue social distancing. Hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert kicked off the event by revealing the broadcast had already raised more than $50 million to combat the coronavirus pandemic, then gave way to the night's stellar performances.
