Last Christmas Movie Companion Book of Celebrity Essays

Emilia Clarke Goes From Star to Writer in the Last Christmas Companion Book of Celebrity Essays

As if a Christmas-themed rom-com starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding couldn't get anymore adorable, Last Christmas is getting a book companion!

While the film follows the misadventures of Clarke's Kate, a struggling singer who has experienced a life-threatening illness in the past and currently works at a Christmas shop (she spends most of the film dressed as an adorable elf), the book bearing the same name is actually a collection of personal essays about the meaning of Christmas. Curated and introduced by Dame Emma Thompson (who also stars in the upcoming film) and her husband, Greg Wise, the book features the writing of famous faces like Meryl Streep, Olivia Colman, and, of course, Emilia Clarke. Also included, the not-so-famous faces of people who have experienced homelessness, political refugees, and volunteers.

While we have no doubt the Last Christmas film will be utterly delightful, the companion book is sure to remind you of the importance of kindness, acceptance, and — as the book's press release emphasizes — that these values are not just for the holidays, but for every day of the year. And to really cinch the deal, 25 cents from every book sold will be donated to the Crisis and the Refugee Council. Who doesn't love a good deed to go along with a good read?
